Achieving success in life and career is attainable for those who maintain a positive attitude and look optimistically toward the future, as revealed by a new study conducted by researchers from Norway and Iceland. The study examined 1,548 participants aged 13 to 77 to determine which personal qualities contribute to success in both professional and personal spheres. Central to this are three key qualities: passion (enthusiasm, obsession), determination, and the belief in one's ability to achieve their goals.
According to Hermundur Sigmundsson, a professor at the Department of Psychology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, a positive mindset is essential for success. Individuals who have faith in their success tend to be far more passionate (engaged, driven) and possess greater willpower than those who lack confidence in themselves. In this study, passion is defined as engagement in one's work and interest in the tasks at hand. Willpower and perseverance provide the determination to navigate all stages, including the ups and downs, on the path to a goal, preventing them from veering off course at the first sign of trouble.
- Our research confirms that belief in personal growth is vital across many areas of life: education, sports, work, and family life, — states the professor. – It embodies the feeling of knowing, “I can do this!”
1. The belief that my intellectual abilities can improve through my own efforts and learning.
2. Passion for my field of knowledge or profession. Passion plays a crucial role in achieving high results, especially in sports, as noted by the authors of the scientific article.
3. Perseverance as the ability to maintain persistence and continue efforts even in the face of failures. Perseverance and willpower are closely linked to conscientiousness and self-discipline.
