Zhanibek Alimkhanuly has received an ultimatum for a fight to take place in Kazakhstan.

On Monday, journalist Dan Rafael reported on social media that, according to his sources, Alimkhanuly is close to finalizing a title defense deal against Thompson (13-0, 9 KOs) in Kazakhstan in April or May, as conveyed by Sports.kz.

Kevin Mari, manager of Shaquiel Thompson, confirmed that negotiations for a potential fight have indeed taken place, but the teams are still far from reaching an agreement.

“We received an offer, but it is significantly different from what would be acceptable for such a fight, and we are talking about substantial discrepancies,” Mari stated.
