Yulia Putintseva has moved up from 29th to 25th place in the updated WTA rankings. Prior to this, the best position for the Kazakhstani tennis player was 27th, according to Caravan.kz citing the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
On January 6, Putintseva defeated the 19th-ranked player in the world, Donna Vekic from Croatia, with a score of 6:2, 6:3 at the start of the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide.
Next, the Kazakhstani player will face either the 11th-ranked American, Danielle Collins, or Tunisia's Ons Jabeur, who is currently ranked 40th.
Previously, the International Tennis Federation released the updated junior ITF rankings. 17-year-old Amir Omarkhanov climbed 10 positions and now holds the 4th spot.
