The WBC denied Alimkhanuly a title fight; details have emerged.

The situation is becoming increasingly complicated.
WBC отклонил заявку Алимханулы на титульный бой: стали известны детали ситуации.

Kazakhstan boxer and world champion in the middleweight category under the WBO and IBF versions, Janibek Alimkhanuly, received some disappointing news from the WBC, as reported by Caravan.kz.

Back in late 2024, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman expressed his enthusiasm for Alimkhanuly potentially becoming the world champion under this organization. However, just a month later, in January 2025, the WBC made a statement that could diminish Alimkhanuly's chances of claiming the WBC title.

The issue is that the WBC issued a ruling stating that the current world champion of their organization, Dominican Carlos Adames, will have to defend his title against British fighter Hamzah Shiraz on February 22 in Riyadh.

“The winner of this fight will then face Meirim Nursultanov from Kazakhstan,” the WBC announced.

As a result, Alimkhanuly's fight prospects have been postponed for at least two bouts. If Nursultanov becomes the WBC champion, Janibek is unlikely to challenge him for a fight—previously, Alimkhanuly stated that he would not challenge another compatriot, Gennady Golovkin, when he was the world champion.
