The oldest Olympic champion, Agnes Keleti, has passed away, reports Caravan.kz citing the Telegram channel of Aidar Mahmetov.
The official stated that she was 103 years old. The gymnast from Hungary won an impressive total of 5 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the Olympic Games. In Helsinki 1952, she secured gold in floor exercises, silver in the team event, and bronze on the uneven bars and in group exercises (which was an event at that time).
“In Melbourne 1956, Keleti managed to win 4 gold medals (on the uneven bars, balance beam, floor, and in the group event) and 2 silver medals (in all-around and team events). Remarkably, Keleti made her Olympic debut at the age of 31! An incredible achievement. In 2002, Agnes Keleti was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame (Oklahoma City). She passed away just 6 days short of her 104th birthday,” Mahmetov noted.
