Bell is the winner of the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne in the long jump, achieving a distance of 7.83 meters, reports Sport-Express.
He also won a silver medal at the 1959 Pan American Games.
Bell has been a member of the USATF Hall of Fame since 1988. After retiring, the American worked as a doctor.
