After the fight, he waved his fists: a Kazakh fighter showcased his skills at the UFC tournament.

The controversial incident may have negative repercussions for the Kazakhstani individual.

Kazakh UFC fighter Nikolai Veretennikov made headlines at the UFC Fight Night 252 event by throwing punches after the fight, as reported by Caravan.kz.

Veretennikov's opponent at the tournament was UFC newcomer Austin Vanderford, who is the husband of fighting world's sex symbol Paige VanZant. Previously, Austin fought in the Bellator league and built a solid record there.

The match did not go well for Veretennikov. The American bombarded the Kazakh with a flurry of strikes in both the first and second rounds. Ultimately, the referee stopped the fight and declared Vanderford the winner by unanimous decision.

Unable to showcase his skills during the bout, Nikolai decided to confront Vanderford after it ended. He approached Austin and started pushing and hitting him. The scuffle was quickly diffused, but the reason behind it remains unknown.

UFC President Dana White responded to the incident.

“It’s never a good thing when you go up [and push someone]. But you know, I don’t know why he attacked him. I understand he was frustrated with the referee. He blocked many strikes and was still trying to get out of there. If a guy is taking unanswered shots and is down on the ground… He was defending himself and moving around, and I get why he’s frustrated. But yeah, you know how it is here. He went up and pushed the guy. What are we supposed to do?” said the UFC chief.

Neither Nikolai nor Austin has commented on the reasons for the conflict outside the fight.
