Kazakh mixed martial arts fighter Alibi Idris has become a participant in the reality show The Ultimate Fighter, reports Caravan.kz.
According to the project's conditions, its participants—MMA fighters—live at a common base, train in teams under the guidance of renowned fighters, and compete in elimination bouts. The winner will receive a prize—a contract with the UFC.
Previously, there have been no Kazakhs in this reality show, but among the winners of The Ultimate Fighter are Tony Ferguson, Robert Whittaker, Kelvin Gastelum, and others.
In earlier seasons, the project's coaches included UFC legends Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso for the women, and Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler for the men.
Who will be the mentors for this year's project remains a mystery, as do the names of the other participants. It is only known that the new season will feature the flyweight (57 kg) and welterweight (77 kg) divisions.
Alibi Idris has competed in 10 MMA fights without any losses, and among his titles is the championship in the Kazakh league Naiza in the flyweight division. Currently, there are 6 active fighters from Kazakhstan in the UFC.
