Kazakhstan's Anastasia Gorodko secured a gold medal in freestyle skiing in the individual mogul on the first day of the Winter Universiade 2025, as reported by Caravan.kz.
In the decisive final-2, Gorodko showcased excellent technique navigating the bumpy course and executed complex jumps, earning a score of 79.79 points and the gold medal. Another finalist, the team’s flag bearer Ayaulem Amrenova, scored 70.52 points and finished in 5th place.
In the unofficial medal standings after the first competitive day, Kazakhstan ranks 4th with 1 gold medal.
The French team leads the standings with 3 golds and 1 silver, while the top three is completed by Finland (1 gold, 1 silver) and Ukraine (1 gold and 1 bronze).
On the second day, Kazakh athletes will also compete for medals in freestyle skiing in the parallel mogul and several other sports.
Previously, Gorodko won gold and silver at the junior world championship in freestyle skiing in Almaty, bringing her total number of individual awards at junior world championships to 6.
