Kazakhstan's Paralympic athlete Yerbol Khamitov has secured two silver medals during the first two competition days of the World Cup stage in para-biathlon, taking place in Val di Fiemme (Italy), reports Caravan.kz.
On the first day of the competition, January 29, Khamitov earned a silver medal in the Men's Sprint Pursuit Sitting event, finishing with a time of 11:50.0. The race was won by Canadian athlete Derek Zaplotinsky (11:42.3), while the bronze medal went to Chinese competitor Liu Zixiu (12:11.1).
In the 7.5 km Men's Sprint Sitting event held on January 30, the Kazakh athlete claimed his second silver of the stage with a time of 19:49.3. This time, he finished behind Liu Mengtiao from China (19:42.8). The bronze medal was awarded to his compatriot Liu Zixiu (19:53.4).
Following the World Cup stage in Val di Fiemme, Kazakhstan's para-biathletes will participate in the World Para-Biathlon Championships, scheduled from February 6 to 9 in Pokljuka (Slovenia), and then compete in the World Cup finals from March 8 to 11 in Torsby (Sweden).
These competitions serve as qualifying events for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.
