Чемпионы Казахстана потеряли своего главного тренера.

The reigning champion of the Kazakhstan mini-football championship, "Semey," has announced the end of its cooperation with Brazilian specialist Davi Mendonça, who held the position of head coach, reports Caravan.kz.

Davi Mendonça's tenure as head coach is associated with the team's most significant achievement — "Semey" became the champion of Kazakhstan for the first time in its history in the 2023/24 season, and also made its debut in the UEFA Futsal Champions League, reaching the Elite Round.

“This historic success will forever remain in the club's chronicles, and we sincerely thank Davi for his contribution to the team's development. During his time with us, the club made significant progress, entering the ranks of the top 16 teams in Europe. However, modern futsal requires constant development and adaptability. The club's management has concluded that the team needs new approaches to maintain competitiveness both in the Kazakhstan championship and on the international stage,” the official statement from MFC "Semey" reads.

The announcement of a new head coach will be made later. Until then, Aslan Smakov, the sports director of FC "Semey," has been appointed as the acting head coach.

“We are grateful to Davi for his work and dedication. The championship is the result of collective efforts, and his role in this success is undeniable. However, for further development, we need a specialist whose working style aligns more closely with the club's strategic goals,” commented the general director of FC "Semey," Azamat Aselkan.

The champions emphasized their commitment to their fans and will continue to adhere to the principles of transparency and professionalism in their activities, while also counting on support and faith in the team during this new phase of its journey.

It is worth noting that currently in the Kazakhstan championship, "Semey" is in 3rd place with 23 points, having 2 games in hand (10 matches played). The leader, Almaty’s "Kairat," currently has 29 points (12 matches played), while Taldykorgan’s "Zhetysu" has moved into 2nd place with 24 points from 14 matches.
