Kazakh UFC fighter Nikolai Veretennikov is left without an opponent for the UFC Vegas 102 tournament, scheduled for February 15, reports Caravan.kz.
Initially, it was announced that Veretennikov would face American Billy Goff in the octagon, but two weeks before the fight, Goff unexpectedly stated that he would compete on February 22 at UFC Seattle against his fellow countryman Adam Fugitt, who had a bout canceled against Germany's Islam Dulatov.
How Veretennikov's career will progress remains uncertain. There are only two possibilities—either Veretennikov will be assigned a new opponent for February 15, or his entry into the octagon will be postponed to a later date.
As of now, Veretennikov, who signed a contract with UFC in July 2024, has fought once in the league—losing to Danny Barlow.
