ESPN insider Salvador Rodriguez shared intriguing details about the situation regarding the next opponent of WBO and IBF world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, as reported by Caravan.kz.
According to the sports journalist, the Kazakh fighter is closer to a unification bout with WBC world champion Carlos Adames from the Dominican Republic than to a fight with WBO title contender British fighter Hamza Shiraz.
Previously, there was information that Adames and Shiraz had agreed to fight on February 22, 2025. However, this was later denied.
“Carlos Adames says they are still trying to secure a fight with Janibek Alimkhanuly, and even his promoter has sent an offer, but no response has been received yet. As for Hamza Shiraz, that is not confirmed yet, as the contract has not been signed,” Rodriguez wrote on his page on X (formerly Twitter).
Interestingly, Janibek claims the opposite regarding Adames — that he is the one waiting for a contract from Carlos, but has yet to receive it.
