The meeting also included representatives from the Department of Emergency Situations, the Water Resources Department, and Rosgidromet.
The main topic of discussion was flood forecasts and collaboration among parties during the floodwater passage period. Representatives from the government of the Orenburg region presented reports on the hydrometeorological situation in the area, measures for preparation for the spring flood, and other key aspects.
"The most significant natural object and primary source of drinking water and water supply for the West Kazakhstan region is the Ural River basin. In its basin, there are 87 settlements where up to 75% of the region's population resides. Additionally, water is drawn from the Ural River for household and drinking needs in the city of Uralsk," emphasized Nariman Turegaliyev.

He also noted that, considering the forecasts and the preparation of the reservoir for the spring flood, it is necessary to adjust the operation mode of the reservoir in line with the evolving hydrological situation. This will help maintain the long-term average water levels in the lower reaches of the Ural River.
The Kazakh side proposed ensuring that water discharge during the low-water period does not fall below last year's levels.

As a result of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on close cooperation in flood prevention matters, as well as on continuous information exchange throughout the flood activity period.
