Artisans from around the globe have arrived in Turkestan.

The mayor of Turkestan, Azimbek Pazylbekuly, met with artisans from various countries and experts from the international organization World Craft Council, which brings together masters of decorative and applied arts.

To explore the history of the spiritual capital of the Turkic world – Turkestan, the city welcomed Aydarkhan Kaliev, the Vice President of the World Crafts Council for the Asia-Pacific region, along with experts Sohan Kumar Dja (India), Mahootchian Yalda (Turkey), and Le Ba Ngoc, the Vice President and expert of the Southeast Asia council.

During the meeting, the guests learned about the development of crafts in the region, shared their experiences, and discussed cooperation and preparations for granting Turkestan the status of "City of Craftsmen."

Azimbek Pazylbekuly spoke about the rich history and culture of the city, highlighting the importance of achieving the status of International City of Craftsmen.

"Turkestan, being one of the key centers of the Great Silk Road, has historically made a significant contribution to the development of craftsmanship. Today, our city aims to gain the status of an international city of craftsmen. While preserving deep traditions and national characteristics, the craft industry in Turkestan is harmoniously evolving in line with modern trends. The ceramic products of local artisans are renowned for their elegance, unique patterns, and high quality. In the future, we plan to implement major projects to support craftsmen," the mayor of the city emphasized.

Last year, 31 representatives of the World Crafts Council visited Turkestan and highly appreciated the work of local artisans. In this regard, the city applied for membership in the organization. Today, the akimat actively supports craftsmen, promoting their art on the international stage.

The Vice President of the World Crafts Council for the Asia-Pacific region, Aydarkhan Kaliev, expressed gratitude to the city’s mayor and stated his readiness to develop cooperation. He emphasized that achieving the status of "City of Craftsmen" for Turkestan is a common goal and expressed a desire to work together towards its realization.

This meeting marked an important step in the development of the culture and craftsmanship of Turkestan, opening new opportunities for artisans in the region.
