"The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan has signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Cooperation in the Field of Ecology and Environmental Protection,'" the statement reads.
As previously mentioned by Deputy Edil Zhanbyrshin, cooperation will be conducted in the following key areas:
- prevention and control of air and water pollution;
- management of solid waste;
- conservation of biological diversity;
- development of joint initiatives to improve the ecological situation in the Aral Sea basin;
- conducting environmental monitoring;
- establishment of joint educational institutions;
- training of personnel;
- and both parties will take all necessary measures to prevent emergencies that harm the environment.
He also noted that a special commission will be established between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
