Kuryshbayev also reported that in 2024 a comprehensive assessment of the state of domestic science was conducted, along with the identification of priority areas for its development.
He further explained that last year an evaluation of 113 scientific and technical assignments for program-targeted funding was carried out, resulting in the creation of three integrated interdisciplinary scientific and technical programs.
In turn, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the need for continued systemic measures to enhance the potential of domestic science.
For instance, a decree was recently signed, granting the National Academy of Sciences the status of the highest scientific organization under the President.
The government was tasked with expediting the resolution of legal issues related to the implementation of this decree.
Moreover, funding for science has increased by 3.5 times, and a new law on "Science and Technological Policy" has been adopted. Measures to support young scientists have been strengthened, including the provision of housing at the direction of the head of state.
In the concluding part of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan outlined several tasks for the National Academy of Sciences.
Notably, just a few days ago, on January 15, Tokayev participated in a meeting with experts on artificial intelligence (AI) development. There, the President announced that a Council on Artificial Intelligence would be established in Kazakhstan under his leadership.
