"By the decree of the head of state, Mirzagaliyev Magzum Maratovich has been appointed as an advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan."
Previously, this position was held by Bolat Akchulakov.
Magzum Mirzagaliyev was born on November 7, 1978, in Almaty.
In 1999, he graduated from Turan University with a degree in international economics. In 2003, he completed the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2010, he graduated from the Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh. Yesenov. He interned in the USA and Malaysia.
His career began as a manager at JSC "Zhartar".
In 2001, he was hired as a drilling fluids engineer at MI Drilling Fluids International (Schlumberger) at the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan.
In 2002, he was selected for the company’s career advancement program from the Kazakhstan branch of Schlumberger at the oil fields of Western Siberia. After returning to Kazakhstan, he worked as a business development manager and was later appointed head of the MIDrilling Fluids International branch in Kazakhstan.
From 2007 to 2010, he served as the General Director of "TenizService KazMunayGaz".
From 2010 to 2012, he was the Managing Director of "KazMunayGaz".
From 2012 to 2013, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Board for Innovation Development and Service Projects at "KazMunayGaz".
In 2013, he was invited to public service as the Vice Minister of Oil and Gas.
From August 13, 2014, to June 2019, he held the position of Vice Minister of Energy.
From June 2019 to September 8, 2021, he was the Minister of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources.
On September 9, 2021, he was appointed Minister of Energy by presidential decree.
On January 5, 2022, he was dismissed along with the government.
From April 2022 to May 2024, he served as the Chairman of the Board of "KazMunayGaz".
Additionally, by another decree from Tokayev, Rustam Bayaliev has been appointed head of the Regional Development Monitoring Department of the Presidential Administration, and he has been relieved of his previous position.
