On January 8, 2025, Satkaliev noted at a government meeting that the construction project for a nuclear power plant is expected to create around 5,000 jobs by 2030, and during the peak of construction in 2032, approximately 10,000 jobs will be available.
"During the operational phase, the project will provide at least 2,000 jobs," said Almasadam Satkaliev.
He highlighted that specialized professions will be developed in support of the nuclear power plant construction, tailored to train personnel at local colleges. These include dosimetrists, turbine equipment repair technicians, mechanical equipment maintenance and repair specialists for nuclear stations, information technology specialists for nuclear facilities, and other professions.
"Close collaboration with electrical engineering colleges is being carried out by subordinate organizations – the National Nuclear Center and the Institute of Nuclear Physics, which provide a foundation for students' industrial internships in nuclear specialties," the energy minister reported.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Energy mentioned that, on average, the construction of a nuclear power plant takes 10 years. During this time, a special program for workforce training will be developed.
