As noted in the Akorda statement dated November 13, 2024, Tokayev emphasized that this event marks a new chapter in the shared commitment to sustainable development.
"The signing of the strategic partnership agreement is a significant milestone in the trilateral cooperation aimed at developing the regions of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. This document opens up new opportunities for the integration of our countries' energy systems, as well as for establishing reliable corridors for the supply of clean energy to European and other markets. Kazakhstan plays a crucial role here as a major transit territory. The practical outcomes of this agreement will also contribute to the development of the Middle Corridor as a 'green bridge' connecting our economies. Close cooperation in this key area will enhance the exchange of experience and advanced technologies among the three states and will further strengthen our energy security." Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev
According to Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, for Kazakhstan, which aims for carbon neutrality, "green" energy is a priority direction.
"We are actively working to reduce our dependence on fossil resources, developing technological innovations and creating infrastructure capable of supporting our environmental sustainability. Agreements have been reached with foreign partners for the implementation of 'green' projects with a total capacity of 43 GW," he emphasized.
President Ilham Aliyev also noted that today's agreement elevates the fraternal relations and strategic partnership among the three countries to a new level:
"The regions of Central Asia and the Caucasus act synchronously on many issues, including the development of 'green' energy. We are aware of the ambitious plans and already achieved results in creating renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan."
Additionally, the President of Uzbekistan stated that this agreement not only pursues economic goals but also symbolizes a collective contribution to the future.
"I would particularly emphasize the ecological significance of this project. The energy that will be transmitted comes from wind and solar sources, which will help mitigate climate impact. Thus, we support joint efforts to protect the climate under the Paris Agreement and achieve sustainable development goals." Shavkat Mirziyoyev
It should be noted that Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev arrived in Baku for a working visit on November 11, 2024. The very next day, he visited the Baku Olympic Stadium.
Furthermore, the President of Kazakhstan has already held a series of meetings with heads of state, leaders of international organizations, and representatives of business structures.
