During this meeting, the issues of implementing the agreements reached between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin regarding the increase of bilateral trade volumes were discussed.
Plans for expanding trade and economic, scientific and technical, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries were also considered. Attention was given to the implementation of tasks aimed at strengthening collaboration in the areas of industrial cooperation, agriculture, energy, transportation, and more.
It is noteworthy that Russia is one of Kazakhstan's key trade partners.
In the first 11 months of 2024, mutual trade reached $24.2 billion. To achieve the leaders' agreement to raise trade turnover to $30 billion, it is crucial to expand the range of goods supplied.
Positive results from the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Program for 2021-2025 were noted, and the necessity of developing an updated program for the upcoming period was highlighted.
- The trade turnover of agricultural products for the first 10 months of 2024 increased by 5%, totaling over $3.2 billion.
- In the field of industrial cooperation, 99 Kazakh-Russian projects worth $18.6 billion have been implemented to date. The prospects for new joint projects in Kazakhstan were examined.
- Transit transportation through Kazakhstan is developing at a rapid pace. In this regard, attention was given to the development of road and railway infrastructure, as well as the opening of new alternative routes in the field of water transport.

Mikhail Mishustin added that Kazakhstan is a strategic partner and ally of Russia.

During Vladimir Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan, important agreements were reached regarding the further development of our relations. As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to strengthen strategic partnership and continue joint work across all areas.
Mishustin arrived in Astana on January 29 for a three-day visit, during which he will meet with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and participate in the Eurasian Economic Union Intergovernmental Council meeting, as well as speak at a digital forum.
