"By the decree of the head of state, Sakhtaganov Nurymbet Amanovich has been appointed akim of the East Kazakhstan region," the message published on the Akorda Telegram channel states.
Nurymbet Sakhtaganov was born on August 6, 1970, in the Turkestan region. He graduated in 1992 from the Kyzylorda Pedagogical Institute (teacher), as well as from the MESI Distance Education Institute (accountant) and the Kyzylorda Institute of Economics, Statistics, and Information of MESI (lawyer).
He began his career in Kyzylorda as a teacher at secondary school No. 172 (1992-1993) and secondary school No. 9 (1994-1995). From 1995 to 2007, he held various positions in the Customs Administration of the Kyzylorda region, the Customs Committee of the Ministry of State Revenues of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Ministry of Economics and Budget Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From September 2007 to September 2010, he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Migration Committee of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, from 2010 to 2012 as a state inspector in the Department of State Control and Organizational-Territorial Work of the President's Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, from October 2012 to July 2015 as the Deputy Akim of the East Kazakhstan region, from July 2015 to May 2018 as the First Deputy Akim of the East Kazakhstan region, from May 2018 to January 2021 as the Akim of the Ulan District of the East Kazakhstan region, from January to June 2021 as the Akim of Semey, from February to June 2022 as the Akim of the Zharmin District of the East Kazakhstan region, and from June 2022 to September 2023 as the Deputy Akim of the Kyzylorda region.
Prior to his new appointment, since September 2023, he held the position of First Deputy Akim of the East Kazakhstan region.
Since June 16, 2023, the Akim of the East Kazakhstan region was Yerbek Kosherbaev. On February 14, 2025, by the decree of the head of state, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and relieved of his previous duties.
