This was announced today on the Instagram page of the diplomatic mission.
"The Embassy of Austria is pleased to introduce the newly appointed Ambassador of Austria to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Her Excellency Andrea Bacher, with the subsequent presentation of credentials," the statement published on January 10, 2025, reads.
According to the information posted on the website, Andrea Bacher has been the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Kazakhstan since January 1 of this year, concurrently serving in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Andrea Bacher was born on February 7, 1985, in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt. In 2009, she obtained a Master's degree in Philology (Slavic Philology) from the University of Klagenfurt, and from 2009 to 2010, she completed courses at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy (46th course). From 2008 to 2024, she held various positions in Austrian diplomatic missions in several countries:
- 2008 – intern at the Austrian Embassy in Ljubljana.
- 2010 – Department for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue (BMEIA).
- 2010-2011 – attaché at the Austrian Embassy in Bern.
- 2011-2012 – Department for Multilateral Cooperation (BMEIA).
- 2012-2016 – First Secretary at the Austrian Embassy in Moscow.
- 2016-2020 – advisor at the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in New York.
- 2020-2024 – advisor on foreign policy and security to the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs (BMEIA).
Previously, the Ambassador of Austria to Kazakhstan was Willy Kempel. He presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on October 1, 2020.
On January 5, 2025, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appointed new ambassadors of Kazakhstan to Egypt, Croatia, Portugal, Iraq, and Palestine.
