According to the press service of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and the head of the Presidential Administration Aibek Dadebay took part in a meeting with the deputies of the maslikhats of the East Kazakhstan region.
During the meeting, the deputies were presented with a letter from Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposing two candidates for the position of akim of the East Kazakhstan region – the first deputy akim of the EKR Nurymbet Saktaganov and the akim of the Ulan district of the EKR Arman Bekbosynov.
As a result of the open voting, the deputies supported the candidacy of Nurymbet Saktaganov, who received 107 votes out of 148, while Arman Bekbosynov garnered 41 votes.
Subsequently, the head of state signed a decree appointing Nurymbet Saktaganov as the akim of the East Kazakhstan region.
Introducing the new akim, the Prime Minister outlined promising directions whose implementation will ensure employment for the population and provide a boost to the region's economic development.
It is worth noting that on February 14, 2025, Yerbek Kosherbaev was relieved of his duties as akim of the EKR. He had been leading the region since June 16, 2023. Now, Kosherbaev serves as the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
