"By the order of the akim of Almaty region, Aset Duisebekovich Masabaev has been appointed as the deputy akim of Almaty region starting from January 23, 2025," the statement published on January 24 says.
Aset Masabaev was born in 1985 and holds a higher education degree. In 2008, he graduated from the Almaty Energy and Telecommunications Institute with a degree in "Electric Power Systems and Networks," in 2014 from the Academy of Economics and Law with a degree in "Finance," and also from the Russian Peoples' Friendship University with a degree in "Jurisprudence."
He began his career in 2007 as an electrician at JSC "Almaty Electric Stations." Throughout his career, he has held various positions: chief engineer at LLP "Naz," technical director at LLP "Almaz and KUS," leading specialist and head of the department at the Energy and Public Utilities Management of Almaty, deputy akim of the Jetysu and Medeu districts of Almaty, chief inspector of the akim's office in Almaty, head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Regulation of Almaty, deputy and head of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Infrastructure Development of Almaty, akim of the Medeu district of Almaty, and akim of Taldykorgan in the Jetysu region.
Before his new appointment, he worked as managing director of a private company from August 16, 2024, to the present.
In early May 2023, Aset Masabaev was hospitalized in intensive care due to a stroke. He underwent rehabilitation for nearly a month and later returned to work. However, on June 30 of the same year, news of his resignation emerged.
