As reported by Deputy Minister of National Economy Bauyrzhan Omarbekov on November 8, 2024, during a meeting of the Public Chamber under the Mazhilis of the VIII convocation, the performance of akims regarding their election programs, the results of reporting meetings with the public, and their activities on social media are being analyzed throughout the year.
"The relevant information based on the year's outcomes will be submitted to the Presidential Administration," said Bauyrzhan Omarbekov.
He reminded that starting from 2025, all akims of districts and cities of regional significance will be elected. Elections will be held as the terms for akim rotation come due. The preliminary number of akims whose rotation terms will begin in 2025 is 36.
In 2023, elections for akims of 42 districts and three cities of regional significance were held. Elections for akims of cities of district significance, villages, towns, and rural districts are also ongoing. A total of 93% of rural akims have been elected.
It was previously reported that a new system for electing akims will be implemented in 2025.
