This was announced today, February 17, 2025, on the Akordy website.
"To appoint Uali Berik as the akim of the Abay region, relieving him of his previous position," states the decree signed by the president.
Berik Uali was born in 1977 in eastern Kazakhstan. He graduated from the Kazakh State Institute of Theatre and Cinema named after T. Zhurganova with a degree in "Film Studies", Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi with a degree in "Journalism" (Master's program), and the Kazakh Humanitarian-Legal Innovative University with a degree in "Law Studies".
He began his career in 1997 as a reporter for the information program "News of Almaty" at the TV company "Tañ". From 1998 to 2019, he held various positions at the "NTK" television channel, the "31 Channel" broadcasting company, the JSC "Agency "Khabar", the LLP "Nur-Media" under the "Nur Otan" party (now Amanat), in the akimat of the South Kazakhstan region (now Turkestan region), in the Ministry of Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the national television channel "Kazakhstan", and in the akimat of the Zhambyl region.
From 2019 to 2022, he served as the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan, and from 2022 to 2023, he was the chairman of the board of JSC "Agency "Khabar".
Prior to his new appointment, since September 12, 2023, he held the position of presidential advisor – press secretary to the President of Kazakhstan.
It is noteworthy that since June 2022, the akim of the Abay region was Nurlan Uranhaev. On February 14, 2025, he was relieved of his position by the decree of the head of state.
