27 audits conducted, resulting in 135 billion tenge added to the budget: Smailov presented the report to Tokayev.

On February 21, 2025, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber. Alikhan Smailov presented the report on the chamber's activities for 2024 and outlined plans for the current period.

According to the press service of Akorda, Smailov reported that last year, 27 audit activities were conducted across 214 entities, covering financial resources amounting to approximately 11 trillion tenge:

  • as a result, violations totaling 862 billion tenge were identified;
  • following the audits, 135 billion tenge was returned to the budget, which is five times the amount reimbursed in 2023;

He also informed that systemic shortcomings were noted in the pricing of construction projects, funding for manufacturing industry projects, and the subsidization of agriculture:

  • to address these violations, the Supreme Audit Chamber has sent recommendations to the government and directives to the responsible state authorities.

Particular attention was drawn to the fact that more than 40 audit activities are planned for 2025:

  • audits will be conducted on the budgets of Astana and Almaty, the North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Zhambyl regions, as well as the "Samruk-Kazyna" fund, the national company "Kazatomprom", the Kazakhstan company for managing electric networks (KEGOC), the National Bank, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations;
  • the audit will cover the spheres of science, defense, law enforcement, sports, social security, and forestry.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to continue improving the state audit system. He also emphasized the importance of implementing modern digital solutions to ensure effective control over the use of budgetary funds.

The day before, on February 20, Tokayev stated that the situation in the field of labor safety was unacceptable.
