The publication "My City" reports that information has spread online regarding the presence of wolves in the village of Yeltai in the Inder district. The author of the post claimed that one of the predators attacked his father while he was about to feed the livestock. The villager had to kill the beast.
"Be cautious, friends. This incident occurred in our village. It seems that wolves have entered the settlement, hiding here and there. The wolf has been sent for examination. We will await the results. Perhaps it was just hungry. A similar case happened in the village of Yntymak, where a wolf attacked a man and bit him on the shoulder. Stay alert," the post states.
Additionally, the post includes photographs: the injured hand of the victim and the dead animal.
The akim of the Yeltai rural district, Dulatbay Sariyev, reported that the incident took place on December 19 during winter grazing, 15 km from the village of Yeltai. The predator attacked the villager early in the morning. Fortunately, the man was not alone. He managed to twist the wolf's neck, and other men rushed to help.
"They tied up the wolf, loaded it into a vehicle, and brought it back to the village. The man was examined at the hospital and received all necessary medical assistance. We have coordinated with the veterinary service. Specialists disinfected the vehicle that transported the wolf. The animal's carcass was taken to a designated location, samples were collected, and the carcass was incinerated. Samples were sent for rabies testing. We will wait for the results," Dulatbay Sariyev said.
The village akim noted that wolves rarely approach populated areas. They are driven closer to humans either by hunger or disease.
Earlier, another incident was reported. On April 28, 2024, in the village of Bykovo, a wolf entered a house and bit a person.
