The apartments were handed over four years ago, and almost immediately, residents began to notice that the building was settling, as reported by the "Khabar" television channel. The developer and the local akimat promised to address the issue, but so far, it has only resulted in cosmetic repairs.
The new building was constructed by a private developer, but part of the apartments was purchased by the akimat. These were then allocated to those on the waiting list. A mining company acquired 20 apartments as part of a memorandum with the health department. These are provided as departmental housing for medical staff.
"When cracks started to appear in the walls, we contacted the akimat. The developer fixed the defects, but they keep reappearing, and they just patch them up again. You can't solve this with plaster. More extensive repair work is needed," says resident Manarbek Sengirbaev from the problematic building.
On their part, officials are not refusing assistance. According to Alisa Sagimbaeva, head of the city’s housing relations department and housing inspection, the developer has committed to reinforcing the foundation as the construction season begins this year. They will also monitor the condition of the building moving forward.
Recently, a ceremonial opening of the "Zheger" physical fitness and wellness complex took place in Zhezkazgan.
