Operational activities were conducted by the regional cyber police in coordination with the Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as reported by the press service of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In a rented apartment, five sim-box devices were discovered, each containing eight slots filled with SIM cards from Kazakhstani mobile operators. These devices were used to create virtual subscriber numbers, which facilitated internet fraud throughout the republic.
Additionally, four routers and 53 SIM cards from both Kazakhstani and foreign mobile operators were confiscated.
"The detainees have been taken to the police. It has been established that their responsibilities included changing SIM cards weekly in the serviced boxes. An investigation is underway," said Jandos Suinbay, head of the Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since the beginning of the year, more than nine thousand numbers have been blocked, from which over 200 thousand calls were made. Employees of the cybercrime prevention units have detained:
- 28 internet fraudsters;
- three 'operators' of sim-box stations;
- seized seven sim-box devices and 285 SIM cards from various mobile operators.
In Aktobe, two taxi drivers received awards from the police.
