В Казахстане активно проводится изъятие нелегального оружия.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, during the mass disturbances, 2,960 units of official and civilian weapons were stolen. In the last three years, the following have been found and confiscated:

  • approximately 8,000 units of firearms and traumatic weapons;
  • 831 grenades;
  • over 112,000 ammunition of various calibers;
  • 722 caches with weapons were discovered.
"As of today, the ownership of 1,226 units of weapons stolen during the January events has been reliably established. For the remaining 6,765 units, the criminals deliberately destroyed and erased the registration numbers, which is why relevant examinations for their identification have now been appointed," clarified the head of the department – the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Shyngys Alekeshov.

In January of this year, a weapons cache was discovered on the outskirts of Shymkent near a cemetery, where four smoothbore shotguns and ammunition were seized, including those stolen from a gun shop in Almaty during the January events. In the Kostanay region, three Kalashnikov rifles were found and confiscated from the basement of a previously convicted local resident. A criminal case has been initiated regarding this fact. The suspect has been placed in a detention center.

Meanwhile, police in the capital detained hooligans who, under the guise of a "prank," grossly violated public order. In the elevators of residential buildings, they staged a conflict accompanied by the display of an object resembling a weapon.
