Recently, a 20-year-old resident of Pavlodar staged a real theatrical performance by calling the police to report a robbery.

"My bag was stolen, which contained 100,000 tenge in cash and my phone. I had just exited the bus when a man from behind snatched my bag and ran into the yards. I tried to chase him, but I couldn't," the girl sobbed on the phone.

She also described the robber's clothing but admitted that she did not remember his face.

"The investigative operational group immediately headed to the specified address. The operational staff, patrol cars, and district inspectors began searching the nearby streets indicated by the victim. They checked all individuals matching the description of the 'robber' and reviewed footage from surveillance cameras. However, the suspect did not appear in any frame, nor did the victim, who claimed she was chasing the man."

The investigator became suspicious due to the victim's questionable directions regarding where the alleged robber had fled.

"When the girl was brought to the police station for questioning, her statements became contradictory, and she soon broke down in tears, confessing that no one had robbed her. The police discovered that the student's grandmother had given her 100,000 tenge to pay off a loan, but the girl spent the money on her own needs."

For the knowingly false call to emergency services, the 'victim' was held accountable. She was fined 30 MRP (117,960 tenge).

"It is important to understand that such jokes and pranks can threaten the safety of others and divert emergency service resources. Operational services and police must be available to address real threats, as false calls hinder their work and can impede saving lives in dangerous situations," emphasized the press service of the Pavlodar region police department.
