At 5:30 AM, a 20-year-old driver of a Toyota lost control at the intersection of Al-Farabi Avenue and Karataev Street.
"The young man veered onto the northern roadside, where he crashed into the curb. He then drove onto the sidewalk and struck a 39-year-old woman. Following that, the vehicle collided with a billboard support and overturned onto its roof. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian died at the scene," – reported the press service of the Department of Police.
The driver and his female passenger were taken to the hospital. The police of the Bostandyk district will investigate the causes and circumstances of the fatal accident.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the traffic accident.
On January 18, 2025, in Astana, the driver and passenger were unable to escape from the wrecked vehicle after the accident. Rescuers had to use special tools to pry open the doors of the mangled car.
