The SAZ LE60 bus with license plate 612EO02 was traveling east along the Almaty – Zhandosov – Besmoynak highway towards the city.
5Just before reaching the village of Kargaly, a man dressed in dark clothing unexpectedly stepped onto the roadway, catching the driver off guard.

7The bus driver was unable to react in time and struck the man.
8After the accident, he called for an ambulance. The injured man was taken to the Central District Hospital in Kaskelen, where he succumbed to his injuries.
9According to the driver, there was a lit pedestrian crossing just a few dozen meters away.
0The deceased had no identification documents. It is known that the man was approximately 50-55 years old.
1"Preliminary investigations have established that on January 15, the driver of the SAZ LE60 bus, while traveling on the 25 km stretch of the Almaty – Zhandosov – Besmoynak highway, struck a 42-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the road at an unmarked location. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian died from his injuries at the district hospital," the statement said.
The regional police urge all road users to strictly adhere to the traffic rules of the Republic of Kazakhstan and road safety requirements.
Earlier, it was reported that a major traffic accident involving military vehicles occurred on the Kapchagai highway.
