The police in Karaganda have detained a 63-year-old man on suspicion of fraud, as reported by the press service of the Karaganda region's Department of Internal Affairs. At one of the city markets, the buyer paid for a purchase of butter with a souvenir banknote worth 20,000 tenge.
"The detainee has confessed. Physical evidence has been seized. A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway," the statement reads.
Currently, the police are determining the suspect's involvement in other similar crimes.
Recently, two commanders from military unit No. 52859 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan were dismissed for exploiting soldiers in Karaganda as free labor.
