As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an operational and preventive event titled "Poacher" is taking place in the Atyrau region from February 1 to 28, aimed at identifying and stopping violations of environmental legislation, as well as the illegal turnover of biological resources.
"As part of the operation on February 18, police officers from the department combating criminal encroachments on fish stocks of the Atyrau region stopped a Ural motorcycle that was heading towards the village of Erkinqala, across the Shman River, from the territory of the state natural reserve 'Akzhayik' towards the Caspian Sea," the police reported.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, three gray bags containing Chinese nets, a radio receiver, a bag with 58.3 kg of fish from cyprinid species, two ice drills, a knife, and a headlamp were discovered in its trunk.
It is noted that the confiscated fish has been handed over to the 'Nadezhda' workshop.
A criminal case has been initiated based on part 1 of article 335 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and an investigation is underway.
It was previously reported that a gang of audacious poachers was caught in the Kostanay region.
