The special operation was carried out by the police with the assistance of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the coordination of the city prosecutor's office.
According to Murat Zhumabaev, the head of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the Almaty Police Department, nine members of a criminal group involved in the distribution of precursors (BK-4), a key component of synthetic drugs, were detained and arrested in various districts of the metropolis and the region the day before.
"During authorized searches at the residences of the detainees, large canisters containing liquid, laboratory equipment for the production of narcotic substances, containers with powdered substances, as well as objects resembling weapons and ammunition were discovered and seized. The physical evidence has been sent for examination," reported Marat Zhumabaev.
Three locations were identified where the drug dealers stored their goods. A total of 3 tons and 210 liters of precursors worth 422 million tenge (802,500 USD) were discovered and seized.
Additionally, during the operational activities, other members of the group were identified, who, with the support of Almaty figures, established a drug laboratory in Karaganda. They have been taken into custody.
In the outgoing year of 2024, Kazakhstani police seized drugs valued at 7.5 billion tenge.
