A resident of Uralsk has claimed compensation for damages caused by a pothole from the city administration.

On January 9th, the second court in Uralsk addressed a civil case filed by a local resident seeking compensation for damages from the housing and utilities service following a traffic accident.

According to information from the press service of the regional court, the plaintiff was involved in a traffic accident in March 2024 at the intersection of Dauletkereya and Lermontov streets due to a deep pothole. The pothole was not visible because of melting snow. The man was able to prove in court that the pothole had formed due to inadequate inspections by the responsible parties. The court held the city administration administratively liable.

Subsequently, the court noted, the man decided to claim damages and returned to court. He requested compensation for the damage caused by the accident amounting to 605,080 tenge, as well as expenses for the damage assessment totaling 60,000 tenge.

After reviewing the case materials, the court fully granted the claim, ordering RGU to pay the driver the amount of material damages of 605,080 tenge and the assessment fee of 60,000 tenge.

The decision has come into legal force.
