The speaker noted that divers continue the search for the bodies of two individuals.
"Currently, the diving operations are complicated because the ice is present, and before diving into the water, rescuers must ensure their personal safety. They measure the thickness of the ice, and only then can they dive. They have their own clearance, which makes the work a bit more challenging," said Didar Kazhkenov at a press conference on January 10, 2025.
He reminded that the emergency occurred last Sunday, January 5. There were two men and two women inside the car. The driver managed to escape, while the other three perished. The body of one of the deceased was found on the same day.
"We have also engaged divers from other regions, bringing in 10 personnel from the republican emergency rescue team, two units of equipment, divers from the East Kazakhstan region, and rescuers from the Pavlodar region," Didar Kazhkenov reported.
On January 6, it became known that the car that sank in Semey was raised from the bottom of the river, but there were no people inside.
