A 10-year-old boy, born on October 10, 2021, was brought by ambulance to the Multidisciplinary Children's Regional Hospital at 14:05 in extremely critical, agonal condition with a wound in the area of the left eye socket, as reported by the local publication 7152.kz.
According to his mother, her son fell off a chair in the kitchen and accidentally impaled his eye on a knife. When she pulled the knife out of his eye, the child began to lose consciousness.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the child was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit.
"Resuscitation efforts were initiated right away, which were successful; cardiac and respiratory functions have been restored, and hemodynamics are being controlled with inotropic support. A consultation with all necessary specialists, including a neurosurgeon and an ophthalmologist, was convened immediately," the medical staff reported.
The child has an open traumatic brain injury, a severe brain contusion, and a stab wound to the eye. The doctors are currently fighting for his life.
Earlier in Aktobe, rescuers were called to assist a 15-year-old teenager who got stuck in an exercise bike.
