A two-kilogram package of marijuana hidden in a suitcase was discovered with the help of a service dog named Korona.
"According to expert estimates, the value of the seized narcotic on the black market is 40 million tenge. A criminal case has been registered regarding this incident. The suspects, aged 35 and 33, have been placed in a temporary detention facility," – reported the press service of the capital's police department.
Law enforcement officials noted that the Belgian Shepherd Korona was born in 2020 and received her distinctive name due to the coronavirus pandemic. Throughout her service, the dog has repeatedly assisted in finding prohibited substances and items hidden in various locations.
Earlier, a 40-year-old Colombian was arrested after attempting to smuggle 19 capsules of cocaine under a wig at the airport.
