This incident came to light through MP Irina Smirnova, as the victim is her former colleague.
"Yesterday, my former colleague – a teacher – was attacked in her own home in the Karasai district by her ex-husband, with whom she has been divorced for almost a year. He broke into the house, smashed the gates, and kicked down the door. Inside the house was her elderly father, who had suffered a stroke. For four hours, the attacker tormented the old man, binding him to a chair with tape. Then, my colleague arrived. A friend entered. The aggressor attacked everyone present in the house. He inflicted several cuts on my acquaintance. On her abdomen, chest, and so on. He beat the elderly father. The third person in the house also suffered and sustained a traumatic brain injury," she wrote on Facebook.
Afterward, the attacker fled, and the victims called the police and an ambulance. Ultimately, they were taken to the police station by ambulance.
"They stood in that condition for an hour in the police corridor, all covered in blood and in shock. No one intended to address their case. They were told that no one had killed anyone! Then, reluctantly, they took a statement at the checkpoint and said that they could only receive a medical examination the next day! The investigative team did not arrive at the scene! They were not provided with any document confirming their appeal!" the MP expressed her outrage.
Moreover, according to her, this man has acted this way before.
"Once, he attacked while covering his face with a scarf and wearing gloves. In October, he broke in and damaged property, smashing furniture. He cut wires and slashed the tires of a car. Another time, he entered, broke dishes, tore flowers, and punched through a wall. The victim consistently reported these incidents to the police. But nothing was done! She requested a protective order. Two days before the last attack, he came dressed all in black, with gloves on his hands and a scarf over his face, barefoot, but did not expect that there would be a sick father at home. In this instance, he left, frightening the father. All these cases have been documented by the police!" Smirnova continued.
According to her, no actions have been taken against her acquaintance's ex-husband, who is a citizen of Turkey.
"Police officers in the Almaty region identified and brought in a 57-year-old man who inflicted bodily harm on his ex-wife and her father. Currently, all necessary investigative actions are being carried out to objectively and thoroughly examine all circumstances of the incident. It is worth noting that the incident occurred on January 16 during a dispute between the former spouses. Further information is not subject to disclosure in the interests of the investigation," commented the police in the Almaty region.
A similar case ended in tragedy in Aktobe. A man took a female acquaintance and her parents hostage while brandishing a weapon. Ultimately, the elderly parents of the hostage passed away.
