On January 14, a tetrahydrofuran leak was successfully averted in the Bayterek district of the West Kazakhstan region following a traffic accident involving a freight truck.
В ЗКО перевернулся грузовик из Беларуси, но утечка опасного химиката была предотвращена.

According to the Emergency Situations Department of Kazakhstan, the incident involved a truck coming from Belarus that was transporting 21 tons of a chemical substance. The vehicle veered off the road, causing several containers of the substance to topple over. However, a spill of the liquid was successfully avoided.

"The Emergency Situations Department of the West Kazakhstan region assessed the potential risks of leakage and threats to the population and the environment. The radiation-chemical service measured its concentration in the air. No threats were detected," the statement said.

The driver was assisted in ensuring the safe loading and continuation of the cargo transportation.

Earlier, there were reports of another accident. A severe traffic collision involving three vehicles occurred in Almaty.
