The anti-corruption agency suspects Batys Petroleum of inflating service prices.

The Agency for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies (AZRK) suspects Batys Petroleum of setting inflated prices for the repair services of tank cars used for transporting petroleum products.
Антикор предполагает, что Batys Petroleum могла завысить стоимость своих услуг.

An investigation into the washing and steaming station of LLP "Batys Petroleum" was initiated following a complaint from a legal entity to the Department of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Atyrau region.

"As a result of an unscheduled analysis, signs of abuse of monopoly position have been identified, manifested in the establishment and maintenance of monopolistically high prices for the current repair service of tank cars for the transportation of petroleum products," the statement reads.

Currently, the facts of possible violations of antitrust legislation are being examined as part of the investigation, and if confirmed, antimonopoly measures will be implemented.

The company may face a fine of 3-5% of its annual turnover, confiscation of monopoly profits, or an order to reduce prices to an economically justified level.

Previously, a company in the Karaganda region was fined nearly 3.5 million tenge due to road quality, while officials in the Akmolinsk region were penalized for not clearing snow.
