A man from Akmolinsk assaulted a taxi driver after being denied permission to smoke in the vehicle.

In the Akmolinsk region, a passenger lit a cigarette in a taxi, and when the driver pointed it out, the customer attacked him with his fists.

The press service of the regional police department reported that the incident occurred on January 28 in Kokshetau. A pre-investigation is currently underway regarding this matter.

"A 47-year-old man approached the city police department to file a complaint about being assaulted. The victim stated that on January 28, he accepted a ride request through an app and picked up a passenger. During the trip, the passenger lit a cigarette in the car without permission. The driver’s remark was met with aggression from the passenger."

After the taxi driver decided to end the ride and stopped the vehicle, asking the passenger to exit, the man attacked him and inflicted bodily harm.

The police have already identified the suspect. A pre-investigation has been initiated under Article 109-1, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for "Assault." Expert examinations have been ordered, and appropriate measures will be taken based on their results.

On January 16, 2025, taxi drivers Zhenis Bigaliyev and Aibek Kulov from Aktobe received letters of gratitude for their high level of driving culture.
