In the East Kazakhstan region, the police discovered that two local residents held dual citizenship, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Polisia.kz.
The violation was uncovered two months later when the women approached the Public Service Center to withdraw their pension savings.
"The court found them guilty of violating the citizenship legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As a result, the mother will face a fine of 200 MRP, while her daughter will be administratively expelled from the country," the statement reads.
It was established that the residents of East Kazakhstan obtained citizenship of another country in December of last year but failed to notify the migration authorities of Kazakhstan within the designated timeframe.
According to police information, seven cases of dual citizenship were identified in the specified region in January 2025 alone.
Law enforcement officials reminded that, according to the law, citizens who acquire a passport from another country are required to notify the migration authorities within 30 days and submit documents verifying their previous citizenship. Failure to comply with this rule is subject to administrative penalties.
Previously, we reported that three Russians were expelled from Kazakhstan for holding dual citizenship.
