A woman has died in a rollover accident on Al-Farabi Avenue in Almaty. Readers sent video footage from the scene of the incident to Tengrinews.kz.
According to the local police department, the accident occurred today at 5:30 AM in the Bostandyk district of Almaty.
"A 20-year-old driver of a Toyota vehicle, traveling westbound on Al-Farabi Avenue, lost control at the intersection with Karataev Street, veered onto the northern shoulder of the road, and struck a curb. Subsequently, continuing on, he drove onto the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian—a 39-year-old woman—before crashing into a billboard support and overturning onto its roof," the Almaty police reported.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian died at the scene of the accident. The driver and his female passenger were hospitalized in one of the city’s hospitals. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fatal traffic incident.
