The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, anticipates "very difficult" peace negotiations with Russia, as reported by Tengrinews.kz citing Deutsche Welle.
He made this statement during a meeting with journalists at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) on Friday. He emphasized that he is ready for "real negotiations" at any time.
Zelensky added that the Ukrainian side is prepared to discuss a variety of options for ending the war, ranging from a contingent of peacekeeping troops to security guarantees and NATO membership.
"We are ready for any steps to stop (Russian President Vladimir - ed.) Putin," the head of state emphasized.
According to him, he was not aware of any potential negotiations in Munich involving Russian representatives.
"I know nothing about this; perhaps someone knows more than I do," he said.
Initially, negotiations will be held with representatives from the United States and the European Union, "and only then meetings with Russian negotiators may take place," the president stressed.
Zelensky also announced a planned series of foreign visits to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, where, according to him, meetings with Russian representatives are also not planned.
The president reiterated the "red line" that is not open for discussion in peace negotiations, as stated in the report.
"Legally, we will never recognize the occupied territories as Russian. They are secured in the constitution, and only the Ukrainian people can decide on changes to the borders," Zelensky declared.
Zelensky commented on the exchange of territories with Russia.
He also mentioned that a plan for deploying foreign troops to ensure peace on Ukrainian territory is already prepared and "the military are working on it," although the map for possible troop deployment is not yet intended for public disclosure.
The Ukrainian leader believes that U.S. President Donald Trump does not have a "final plan" for ending the war in Ukraine.
"We are ready to discuss with America and our allies. If they have specific answers to our specific demands, then we - with this common position - are ready to talk to the Russians," he concluded.
Recall that earlier Trump announced a meeting of high-ranking representatives from the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.
"It's not very pleasant." Zelensky commented on Trump's call to Putin.
