The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that the agreement granting the U.S. access to Ukraine's minerals "does not protect us and our interests." He made this remark during a conversation with journalists at the Munich Security Conference, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
According to Zelensky, he did not allow the ministers to sign this document because he was dissatisfied with its quality.
"In my opinion, it is not ready. It does not protect us and our interests. It is very important for me to discuss investments in Ukraine. This must be legally sound. Regarding the profit from them – we can think about how to distribute this profit if everything is tied to these security guarantees. And I do not see this connection in the document yet," Zelensky said.
The President clarified that the agreement on U.S. access to mineral resources should be linked to security guarantees for Ukraine.
Earlier, we reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting in Munich with American officials, refused to sign an agreement granting the U.S. rights to 50 percent of Ukraine's mineral reserves.
